Hola,

Long time no blog!  Hey, no judgement – I have a lot going on these days!  Tax season just officially ended on October 15. First, let me address the pink elephant in the room, my inbox is full of messages about an article posted by the National Report that indicates that tax year 2015 tax refunds will be delayed until October 2015. The National Report is a satirical website. This is a hoax but there may be some truth to the delay to the start of the tax season.

There are about 50 tax laws which expired at the end of 2013.  This year is an election year, and the fact that Congress generally has not been able to get a lot done in the past ten months has a lot of folks at the IRS concerned.  The IRS Commissioner, John Koskinen, warned that the failure to make a final decision about the tax extenders is causing “a great deal of uncertainty” which “if persists into December or later, could force the IRS to postpone the opening of the 2015 filing season and potentially delay processing of tax refunds for millions of taxpayers.”   Now, please don’t freak out but this could happen. This doesn’t mean that your refunds will be delayed until October but it does mean that you may not be able to file for your tax refund into later in the tax season.

Ill keep you posted on any new developments.

Smooches,
